Passenger Cars (Includes Caballero & El Camino)

1. Remove air crossover. Install screened covers on intake manifold. Remove throttle rod from throttle lever on V8 engines; throttle cable and detent/TV cable from throttle lever on V6 engines. Loosen vacuum regulator valve-to-injection pump bolts.
2. Install carburetor angle gauge adapter (J-26701-15) on injection pump throttle lever and place angle gauge on adaptor. See Fig 1 . Rotate throttle lever to wide open position. Center bubble in level with gauge set at 0°.
3. Set gauge to 58° (V8) or 49° (V6) and rotate throttle lever until bubble is centered. Attach vacuum pump to regulator port "A" and a vacuum gauge to port "B". Apply 18-24 in. Hg of vacuum at port "A". See Fig 2 .
4. Rotate vacuum valve clockwise until vacuum gauge reads 10-6 in. Hg and tighten valve mounting bolts. Remove vacuum source and gauge. Install throttle rod or throttle cable and detent/TV cable to pump throttle lever. Remove screened covers and install air crossover.
