Hydraulic Valve Lifter Assembly: Disassembly

Depress plunger in lifter with a push rod and pry out retainer with a small blade screwdriver. Remove push rod seat and metering valve. Remove plunger, ball check valve and assembly, and plunger spring. Remove ball check valve and spring by prying ball retainer loose with a small blade screwdriver. See Figure.
