1970-74 - 3-Speed ("K" Models)

Raise and support vehicle under frame, and drain fluid from both transmission and transfer case. Disconnect propeller shaft, and speedometer cable at transmission. Disconnect TCS switch (if equipped). Remove shift controls from both transmission and transfer case. Support transfer case on a suitable jack, and remove transfer case-to-adapter bolts. Remove transfer case-to-frame bolts, and remove case assembly from vehicle.
Using a suitable jack, support rear of engine. Remove adapter mounting bolts, and remove upper transmission-to-clutch housing bolts. Insert guide pins in upper holes and remove lower transmission mounting bolts. Slide transmission rearward on guide pins until input shaft is clear of clutch hub, then remove transmission and adapter assembly from vehicle. Remove adapter from transmission.
