Pinpoint Test Aw: The Charge Station Fault Message Is Never Or Always Displayed

  1. Normal Operation and Fault Conditions 

    See Charge Station Fault Message. REFER to: Message Center - Electric - System Operation and Component Description .

    If the battery charger service required message is missing for less than 5 seconds, the IPC defaults the charge station fault message to the last indication state, based upon the last message received.

    If the battery charger service required message is missing for 5 seconds or longer, the IPC defaults the charge station fault message off.

    Possible Causes 

    • Communication concern
    • GWM
    • OBCC concern
    • IPC

  2. AW1 VERIFY MESSAGE CENTER OPERATION

    • Verify with the customer the near navigation feature display functions correctly.

    Does the near navigation feature display function correctly? 

    Yes  GO to  AW2
    No  GO to PINPOINT TEST A: THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) IS INOPERATIVE/MULTIPLE GAUGES, INDICATORS, RTT (RECONFIGURABLE TELLTALE) INDICATORS, WARNINGS AND CHIMES ARE INOPERATIVE OR ALWAYS ON 
  3. AW2 PERFORM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to the DTC Chart in this article.
    No  GO to  AW3
  4. AW3 CHECK THE GWM (GATEWAY MODULE A) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, check the GWM Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to: Controller Area Network (CAN) Module Communications Network - Electric .
    No  If the charge station fault message is never on, the system is operating correctly at this time. There are currently no vehicle concerns present that require the charge station fault message display.If the charge station fault message is always on, DIAGNOSE all OBCC Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). REFER to: High Voltage Battery Charging System - Electric .
