Seatbelt Minder Deactivating Activating

Seatbelt Minder Deactivating/Activating 

Activation 

WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure in this service information, refer to Safety Warnings in service information General Information. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.
NOTE: If you are using a MyKey® programmed key, the Belt-Minder® cannot be disabled and does not time out after 5 minutes. If the Belt-Minder® has been previously disabled, it is re-enabled when a MyKey® programmed key is used.
NOTE: The driver and front passenger Belt-Minder® are deactivated/activated independently. When deactivating/activating one seating position, do not buckle the other position.
NOTE: This procedure will only disable the audible  seatbelt minder. If the seatbelt buckle is fastened then unfastened while the vehicle is running, the seatbelt warning message will stay on and the seatbelt warning indicator will continue to flash until the warning system times out. It is not possible to clear the warnings.
  1. Apply the parking brake before deactivating/activating the Belt-Minder®.
  2. Place the selector lever in PARK (P).
  3. Place the ignition in OFF.
  4. Unbuckle the driver and the front passenger seatbelts.
  5. Place the ignition in the RUN mode (do not start the engine).
  6. NOTE: This step must be completed within 30 seconds after placing ignition in RUN mode.
    NOTE: As confirmation of disabling or enabling the Belt-Minder®, the seatbelt warning indicator flashes 4 times, then illuminates solid.

    For the seating position to be deactivated or activated, buckle then unbuckle the seatbelt 4 times at a moderate speed, ending with the seatbelt in the unbuckled state. Allow the seatbelt indication display to illuminate (unbuckled) and turn off (buckled) between each buckle/unbuckle state.

  7. Place the ignition in OFF.
  8. NOTE: Only the seatbelt warning chime will be deactivated. The seatbelt warning indicator and seatbelt display will continue to illuminate when the seatbelt buckle is unfastened.

    Start the engine and drive the vehicle with the applicable seatbelt buckle unfastened at a minimum speed of 10 km/h (6 mph) to confirm the seatbelt warning chime is deactivated or activated.

  9. After confirmation, the deactivation/activation procedure is complete for the selected seating position.
