  1. Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

The PCM only runs the KOEO and KOER self-tests when it confirms the vehicle is in park or neutral.

    DTC Fault Trigger Conditions

    DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition
PCM P1705:00 Transmission Range Circuit Not Indicating Park/Neutral During Self Test: No Sub Type Information This DTC indicates the TR sensor did not show park or neutral during a KOEO or KOERPCM self-test.

    Possible Causes

    • Carrying out a PCM self-test with the vehicle in gear
    • Selector lever cable adjustment
    • TR sensor
    • PCM fault

  2. AI1 CHECK FOR TR (TRANSMISSION RANGE) SENSOR CIRCUIT DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)

    • Select PARK.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, retrieve all continuous memory diagnostic trouble codes (CMDTCs) from the PCM.

Are any TR sensor circuit diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) present?

Yes  RESOLVE all TR sensor circuit diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) first. REFER to the approporiate PCM DTC Chart.
    No  GO to  AI2
  3. AI2 CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE TR (TRANSMISSION RANGE) SENSOR

Access the PCM and monitor the TR_CORRECTEDPID

    • Select REVERSE.

    • Select NEUTRAL.

    • Select DRIVE.

    • Select PARK.

Does PID TR_CORRECTED agree with each selected gear position?

    Yes  GO to  AI5
    No  GO to  AI3
  4. AI3 CHECK THE ADJUSTMENT OF THE SELECTOR LEVER CABLE

Is the selector lever cable properly adjusted?

    Yes  GO to  AI4

  5. AI4 CHECK THE TR (TRANSMISSION RANGE) SENSOR FOR PROPER INSTALLATION

    • Inspect the TR sensor and manual shaft for proper installation. Make sure the roll pin is completely installed in the TR sensor. Make sure detent spring is properly installed. Check all components for damage or binding. REFER to: Transmission Range (TR) Sensor .

Is the TR sensor properly installed and free of damage?

Yes  INSTALL a new TR sensor. REFER to: Transmission Range (TR) Sensor .
No  REPAIR or INSTALL new components as necessary. REFER to: Transmission Range (TR) Sensor .
  6. AI5 RECHECK THE PCM (POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE) FOR DTC (DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE) P1705

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear all diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) from the PCM.

    • Select PARK.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the KOEO and KOERPCM self-tests.
