System Operation
Battery and Cables
Vehicles may have a single or dual battery configuration, located under the driver's seat. The battery/batteries are a 12V DC source connected in a negative ground system and is a voltage stabilizer for the 12V electrical system.
A battery monitoring sensor is attached to the negative side of the battery cable and a generator current sensor (if equipped) is attached to the positive side of the battery cable, refer to Component Description in appropriate Service Information .
All batteries are maintenance-free.
Ford Motor Company strongly recommends that all faulty lead-acid batteries be returned to an authorized recycling facility for disposal.
