Port Injection Fuel Rail: Removal

- Release the fuel system pressure. Refer to: Fuel System Pressure Release .
- Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to the appropriate Battery Disconnect and Connect in GENERAL PROCEDURES .
- Remove the upper intake manifold. Refer to: Upper Intake Manifold .
- Follow the directions for the quick release coupling type 10. Disconnect the fuel rail fuel tube quick release couplings. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling

- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Disconnect the fuel injector electrical connectors.

NOTE: Use compressed air to remove any dirt or foreign material from the cylinder head, block and general surrounding area of the fuel rail and the fuel injectors.NOTE: Some models may be equipped with Torx® head bolts.
Remove the fuel rail retaining bolts, then remove the fuel rail.

- Remove the fuel injector retaining clips.
- Remove the fuel injectors from the fuel rail.
- Remove and discard all of the fuel injector O-ring seals.
