Lower Intake Manifold: Installation

NOTE: If the engine is repaired or replaced because of upper engine failure, typically including valve or piston damage, check the intake manifold for metal debris. If metal debris is found, install a new intake manifold. Failure to follow these instructions can result in engine damage.

Install the lower intake manifold and the bolts.
Torque: 10 Nm

- Connect the coolant tube to the lower intake manifold.
- Attach the coolant tube retainer to the valve cover stud bolt.

Install a new coolant tube O-rings seal.

Install the thermostat housing and the bolts.
Torque: Stage 1: 8 Nm Stage 2: 45deg.

Remove the waterproof plastic from the accessory drive belts.
Install the port injection fuel rail. Refer to: Port Injection Fuel Rail .
Fill the cooling system. Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding .
If a new intake manifold was installed, road test the vehicle.
