Transmission Case

  1. NOTE: This step is only necessary if the transmission case is being replaced. A new transmission case will not come with a vent tube.

    Using the special tool, install the vent tube in the transmission case.Use Special Service Tool: 307-549 Installer, Shift Shaft Fluid Seal.

  2. NOTE: This step is only necessary if the transmission case is being replaced.

    Using a brass punch, install the ball plug (7E195) flush with the transmission case surface.

  3. Using the special tools, install the inner output shaft bearing.Use Special Service Tool: 204-594 Forcing screw., 307-648 Remover/Installer, Rear Bearing., 307-738 Installer, R2 Bearing.

  4. Using the special tools, install the fluid passage sleeve.Use Special Service Tool: 204-594 Forcing screw., 307-648 Remover/Installer, Rear Bearing., 307-740 Installer, Dog Bone.

    Four-Wheel Drive (4WD) vehicles 

  5. Using the special tools, install the outer output shaft bearing.Use Special Service Tool: 204-594 Forcing screw., 307-648 Remover/Installer, Rear Bearing., 307-739 Installer, R3 Bearing.

    Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) vehicles 

  6. Using the special tools, install the outer output shaft ball bearing.Use Special Service Tool: 204-594 Forcing screw., 307-648 Remover/Installer, Rear Bearing., 307-713 Installer, Roller Bearing.

  7. Install the output shaft ball bearing snap ring.

    All vehicles 

  8. Install the line pressure port and rear case plugs.

    Torque: 13.5 Nm

    1. Install the park pawl.
    2. NOTE: Make sure the spring is completely engaged on the park pawl.

      Install the park pawl return spring.

    3. Install the park pawl shaft.

  9. Install the park pawl shaft plug.

    Torque: 23 Nm

  10. Install new park pawl actuator rod sleeve seals and lubricate them with petroleum jelly.

    1. Position the park pawl towards the inside of the transmission case.
    2. NOTE: Do not slide the park pawl actuator rod sleeve to far into the transmission case or the inner seal will be damaged.

      Slide the park pawl actuator rod sleeve into the transmission case.

    3. NOTE: Align the roll pin seam to the inside of the transmission.

      Using the special tool install the roll pin to the correct depth.Use Special Service Tool: 307-745 Installer, Park Sleeve Roll Pin.
