Selector Lever Assembly: Removal

Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
- Prior to replacing the selector lever cable for a no start or a high shift effort concern, verify the selector lever cable-to-bracket clips are fully seated at the transmission and selector lever assembly. An unseated cable can cause selector lever cable binding and prevent the manual shaft from completely returning to the P position.
- Release the clips and remove the lower steering column opening trim panel.
- Press the stop tabs inward and fully lower the glove compartment.
- Release the clips and remove the trim panel.
- Remove the RH instrument panel console screw.
- Position aside the selector lever bezel.
- Lift the back of the selector lever bezel and release the tabs.
- Lift the front of the selector lever bezel and release the tabs.
- Remove the trim panel.

NOTE: Both sides.
Remove the lower trim panel screw covers and the screws.
- Remove the instrument panel console.
- Remove the screws.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors and remove the instrument panel console.
- Remove the selector lever cable clip bolt.
Torque: 7 Nm

NOTE: Do not pull or pry on the selector lever cable or the selector lever cable end may be damaged. Use a screwdriver and turn the screwdriver as shown to pry the cable end off the post as close to the post as possible.
Using a screwdriver, pry the selector lever cable end from the selector lever and disconnect the selector lever cable clip from the selector lever assembly.
- Disconnect the selector lever electrical connector.
- Remove the nuts and the selector lever.
Torque: 9 Nm
