- DTC Fault Trigger Conditions
DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition BCM B1616:04 Electrical System High Key Off Load: System Internal Failure BCM sets this DTC when the BMS senses a high load draw when the ignition is off. Possible Causes
- Aftermarket electrical component
- Vehicle module(s)
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- C1 CHECK FOR AFTERMARKET ACCESSORIES
- Check for any aftermarket electrical components that are attached to the vehicle's electrical system.
Are any aftermarket electrical components connected to the vehicle?
Yes Remove the aftermarket electrical components, carry out the battery drain test to verify the high load draw has been removed from the vehicle. No GO to C2 - C2 CHECK THE VEHICLES FOR A HIGH LOAD DRAW
- Carry out the battery drain test. REFER to: Battery Drain Check .
Was a high load draw detected?
Yes Fix or Repair the excessive high load draw. No GO to C3 - C3 CHECK FOR CORRECT OPERATION SHORT SOAK
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, Clear the BCM DTCs.
- Ignition OFF.
- Wait 1.5 hours.
- Ignition ON.
- Wait 10 seconds.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.
Is DTC B1616:04 still present?
Yes GO to C4 No The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition. - C4 CHECK FOR CORRECT OPERATION LONG SOAK
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear the BCM DTCs.
- Ignition OFF.
- Wait 12 hours.
- Ignition ON.
- Wait 10 seconds.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.
Is DTC B1616:04 still present?
Yes GO to C5 No The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition. - C5 CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect and inspect all the BCM connectors.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connectors or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect the BCM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
