Front Wheel Bearing and Wheel Hub: Removal
All vehicles
- If equipped.Remove the wheel center cap.
- Loosen the wheel hub nut.
- Remove the wheels and tires. Refer to: Wheel and Tire . Refer to: Wheel and Tire - Vehicles With: Dual Rear Wheels .

NOTE: This step requires the aid of another technician.
While an assistant applies the brake, remove and discard the wheel hub nut.

NOTE: Do not allow the brake caliper and anchor plate assembly to hang from the brake hose or damage to the hose can occur.
Remove and discard the 2 brake caliper anchor plate bolts and position aside the brake caliper and anchor plate assembly.
- Remove and discard the lower ball joint nut.

NOTE: Do not use a prying device or separator fork between the ball joint and the wheel knuckle. Damage to the ball joint or ball joint seal may result. Only use the pry bar by inserting it into the lower arm body opening.NOTE: Use care when releasing the lower arm and wheel knuckle into the resting position or damage to the ball joint seal may occur.
Separate the lower control arm from the lower ball joint.Use the General Equipment: Two Leg Puller

NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component to the left-hand side.
Rotate the steering wheel fully to the RH side.

NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component to the right-hand side.
Rotate the steering wheel fully to the LH side.
- Using a 3-leg puller, separate the wheel hub and brake disc assembly from the halfshaft. Support the halfshaft.Use the General Equipment: Three Leg Puller
Vehicles with single rear wheels
- Loosen the wheel hub and brake disc assembly mounting bolts by 5 turns.
- Install the special tools.Install Suggested Tool: 100-001 (T50T-100-A) Slide Hammer. Tool shown or a commercially available equivalent can be used., 308-125 Remover, Transfer Case Bearing. Tool shown or a commercially available equivalent can be used.
- Remove and discard the wheel hub and brake disc assembly mounting bolts and remove the assembly.

NOTE: Protect the brake disc with a soft cloth to prevent damage.
Remove and discard the brake disc bolts and separate the brake disc from the wheel hub assembly.Use the General Equipment: Vise
Vehicles with DRW and SRW Jumbo
- Loosen the wheel hub and brake disc assembly mounting bolts by 5 turns.
- Install the special tools.Install Suggested Tool: 100-001 (T50T-100-A) Slide Hammer. Tool shown or a commercially available equivalent can be used., 308-125 Remover, Transfer Case Bearing. Tool shown or a commercially available equivalent can be used.
- Remove and discard the wheel hub and brake disc assembly mounting bolts and remove the assembly.
