Pinpoint Test AQ: The ECO Coach Display Is Inoperative

  1. Normal Operation and Fault Conditions 

    See Eco Coach Display. REFER to: Message Center - System Operation and Component Description .

    Possible Sources 

    • Communication concern
    • PCM concern
    • IPC

  2. AQ1 VERIFY THE SPEEDOMETER OPERATION

    • Observe the speedometer while operating at various speeds and stopping frequently.

    Does the speedometer begin at 0 km/h (0 mph) and fully return to the 0 km/h (0 mph) position when the vehicle is stopped? 

    Yes  GO to AQ2 
    No  GO to Pinpoint Test D 

  3. AQ2 PERFORM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Chart 
    No  GO to AQ3 

  4. AQ3 CHECK THE GWM (GATEWAY MODULE A) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, check the GWM Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (CMDTCs).

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to: Controller Area Network (CAN) Module Communications Network .
    No  DIAGNOSE all PCM Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). REFER to the appropriate DTC Chart.
