Brake Pedal and Bracket: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Remove the cowl panel grille. Refer to: Cowl Panel Grille .
  2. Remove the 2 LH side (under hood) instrument panel bolts

    Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

  3. Release the clips and remove the LH instrument panel side trim panel.Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover

  4. Remove the cowl side trim panel.

    1. Release the cowl side trim panel lower clips.Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover
    2. Release the cowl side trim panel upper tab.

    1. Remove the LH trim panel screw.
    2. Release the clips, disconnect the electrical connector and remove the LH trim panel.

  5. Remove the LH instrument panel bolts, and pull the left side of the instrument panel rearward to get access to the brake pedal.

    Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

  6. Remove the accelerator pedal.
  7. Detach the harness retainers and position the wiring aside.

  8. Remove and discard the clevis pin.

  9. Remove the brake pedal bracket nuts.

  10. NOTE: This step requires the aid of another technician.

    Pull the LH side of the instrument panel away from the cowl slightly and remove the brake pedal and bracket.
