Port Injection Fuel Rail: Removal
- Release the fuel system pressure. Refer to: Fuel System Pressure Release .
- Disconnect the battery ground and positive cables. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .

- If equipped with a strut tower cross brace, detach the wiring harness retainer.
- Remove and discard the strut tower brace nuts, then the strut tower brace.
Torque: 41 lb.ft (55 Nm)
- Remove the engine appearance cover caps.

NOTE: The engine appearance cover rubber grommets may remain on the cover. If so, remove the grommets from the cover and install them on the intake manifold before installing the cover.
Remove the nuts and the engine appearance cover.
Torque: 35 lb.in (4 Nm)
- Position the heater hoses out of the way.
- If equipped, detach the wire harness retainers.
- Remove the nuts and then remove the heater hose supports.
- Disconnect the fuel supply tube quick release coupling. Follow the directions for the quick release coupling type 2. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling

NOTE: Make note of the high-pressure fuel pump supply Oetiker® clamp end location for correct installation.
Disconnect fuel high-pressure fuel pump supply tube spring lock coupling. Refer to: Spring Lock Couplings .
- Position the vacuum tube assembly aside.
- Remove the left and the right fuel rail insulators.
- Disconnect the fuel injector electrical connectors and the fuel sensor electrical connector.
- Remove the fuel rail retaining bolts, then remove the fuel rail.
- Remove the fuel injector clips, then remove the fuel injectors from the fuel rail.
- Remove and discard all of the fuel injector O-ring seals.
