Instrument Panel - Vehicles With: 15.5 Inch Center Display Screen: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Depower the SRS. Refer to: Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering .
  2. Remove both A-pillar trim panels. Refer to: A-Pillar Trim Panel .
  3. Remove the floor console. Refer to: Floor Console .
  4. Release the clips and remove the RH instrument panel finish panel.Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover

  5. Release the clips and remove the LH instrument panel finish panel.Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover

  6. Remove the lower RH access door.

  7. Release the clips and remove the RH scuff plate.

  9. Remove the push pin and the remove RH insulation panel.

    • Disconnect the electrical connectors.

  10. Remove the glove compartment. Refer to: Glove Compartment .
  11. Release the front floor covering retainers and remove the front floor covering.

  12. Remove the rear HVAC duct retainers and remove the duct.

  13. Remove the harness cover.

  14. Disconnect the electrical connectors, detach the harness retainers and position the harness aside.

    1. Disconnect the electrical connectors at the BCM.
    2. NOTE: If equipped.

      Remove nut and the ground eyelet.

  15. Disconnect the eletcircal connector and remove the bolt at the LH glove compartment opening.

    Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

  17. Disconnect the lower LH instrument panel electrical connectors and detach the wiring harness retainer.

  18. WARNING: Install a new steering column shaft bolt. Reuse could result in bolt failure and loss of vehicle control. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious injury to vehicle occupant(s).
    NOTE: Do not allow the steering wheel to rotate while the steering column shaft is disconnected or damage to the clockspring may result.

    Remove and discard the bolt and disconnect the upper steering column shaft.

    Torque: 21 lb.ft (28 Nm)

  19. Release the clips and remove the instrument panel defroster panel.

    • NOTE: If equipped.

      Disconnect the electrical connector.Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover

  20. Remove the LH upper instrument panel bolts.

    Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

  21. Remove the RH upper instrument panel bolt.

    Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

  22. Remove the LH instrument panel center support bolts.

    Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

  23. Remove the RH instrument panel center support bolts and bracket.

    Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

  24. NOTE: Leave one bolt finger tight to hold the instrument panel prior to removal.

    Remove the bolts.

    Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

  25. NOTE: Leave one bolt finger tight to hold the instrument panel prior to removal.

    1. Remove the bolt.

      Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

    2. Remove the bolts.

      Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

  26. NOTE: To avoid damaging the instrument panel, and assistant is required when carrying out this step.
    NOTE: Make sure not to damage the instrument panel when removing the instrument panel from the vehicle.
    NOTE: Make sure that all electrical connector and wiring and not hindered before removing the instrument panel or damage to the components may occur.

    Rotate the instrument panel face down and remove through the RH front door opening.
