Pinpoint Test N: U0404, U0405, U0412, U0415, U0416, U0418, U0422, U0423, U041A, U0439, U049C, U0428, U0594, U1011, U1012, U1014, U0102F

  1. Normal Operation and Fault Conditions 

    If the PCM does not receive messages from other modules within a certain time frame the PCM sets a DTC for invalid data.

    DTC Fault Trigger Conditions 

    DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition
    PCM U0404:00 Invalid Data Received from Gear Shift Control Module A: No Sub Type Information The PCM sets this DTC when the PCM receives invalid network data from the GSM.
    PCM U0405:00 Invalid Data Received From Cruise Control Module: No Sub Type Information The PCM sets this DTC when the PCM receives invalid network data from the CCM.
    PCM U0412:00 Invalid Data Received From Battery Energy Control Module "A": No Sub Type Information The PCM sets this DTC when the PCM receives invalid network data from the BECM.
    PCM U0415:00 Invalid Data Received from Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Control Module "A": No Sub Type Information The PCM sets this DTC when the PCM receives invalid network data from the ABS module.
    PCM U0416:00 Invalid Data Received From Vehicle Dynamics Control Module: No Sub Type Information The PCM sets this DTC when the PCM receives invalid network data from the VDM
    PCM U0418:00 Invalid Data Received from Brake System Control Module "A": No Sub Type Information The PCM sets this DTC when the PCM receives invalid network data from the ABS module.
    PCM U0422:00 Invalid Data Received From Body Control Module: No Sub Type Information The PCM sets this DTC when the PCM receives invalid network data from the BCM.
    PCM U0423:00 Invalid Data Received from Instrument Panel Cluster Control Module: No Sub Type Information The PCM sets this DTC when the PCM receives invalid network data from the IPC control module.
    PCM U0428:00 Invalid Data Received From Steering Angle Sensor Module: No Sub Type Information The PCM sets this DTC when the PCM receives invalid network data from the SASM.
    PCM U0439:00 Invalid Data Received From All Terrain Control Module: No Sub Type Information The PCM sets this DTC when the PCM receives invalid network data from the ATCM.
    PCM U049C:00 Invalid Data Received From Battery Charger Control Module "A": No Sub Type Information The PCM sets this DTC when the PCM receives invalid network data from the SOBDM
    PCM U0594:00 Invalid Data Received From Hybrid/EV Powertrain Control Module "A": No Sub Type Information The PCM sets this DTC when the PCM receives invalid network data from the SOBDMC
    PCM U1011:00 Invalid Internal Control Module Monitoring Data Received from ECM/PCM: No Sub Type Information The PCM sets this DTC when the PCM receives invalid network data from the PCM.
    PCM U1012:00 Invalid Internal Control Module Monitoring Data Received from Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Control Module: No Sub Type Information The PCM sets this DTC when the PCM receives invalid network data from the ABS module.
    PCM U102F:00 Invalid Internal Control Module Monitoring Data Received From All Wheel Drive Control Module: No Sub Type Information The PCM sets this DTC when the PCM receives invalid network data from the AWD control module.
    PCM U1014:00 Invalid Internal Control Module Monitoring Data Received from Restraints Control Module: No Sub Type Information The PCM sets this DTC when the PCM receives invalid network data from the RCM.

    Possible Sources 

    • Suspect Module

  2. N1 CHECK FOR DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE MODULE SENDING INVALID DATA

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the self-test for the module in question sending the invalid data.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) present from the module sending the invalid data? 

    Yes  DIAGNOSE the module sending the invalid data. Refer to the appropriate service information.
    No  DIAGNOSE the observable symptom.
