Pinpoint Test Cg: The Power Liftgate Warning Chime Is Inoperative

  1. Normal Operation and Fault Conditions 

    See Power Liftgate Warning Chime. REFER to: Warning Chimes - System Operation and Component Description

    Possible Sources 

    • Communication concern
    • Power liftgate concern
    • RGTM
    • GWM
    • IPC

  2. CG1 CHECK THE SEATBELT WARNING CHIME OPERATION

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Ignition ON.

    • Monitor the seatbelt warning chime when the ignition switch is transitioned from OFF to RUN for 6 seconds.

    Does the seatbelt warning chime operate for approximately 6 seconds? 

    Yes  GO to  CG2
    No  GO to Pinpoint Test CI 
  3. CG2 CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE POWER LIFTGATE

    • Open and close the power liftgate.

    Does the power liftgate operate correctly in both the open and close modes? 

    Yes  GO to  CG3
    No  REFER to: Body Closures
  4. CG3 PERFORM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to the IPCDTC Chart.
    No  GO to  CG4
  5. CG4 PERFORM THE RGTM (REAR GATE TRUNK MODULE) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the RGTM self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to the Master DTC Chart.
    No  GO to  CG5
  6. CG5 CHECK THE GWM (GATEWAY MODULE A) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, check the GWM Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to: Controller Area Network (CAN) Module Communications Network
    No  GO to  CG6
  7. CG6 CHECK FOR CORRECT RGTM (REAR GATE TRUNK MODULE) OPERATION

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Disconnect and inspect the RGTM connectors.

    • Repair:

      • corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
      • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary

    • Reconnect the RGTM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.

    • Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present? 

    Yes  CHECK OASIS for any applicable service articles: TSB, GSB, SSM or FSA. If a service article exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the service article instructions. If no service articles address this concern, INSTALL a new RGTM. REFER to: Rear Gate Trunk Module (RGTM)
    No  The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
