Pinpoint Test Ca: The Ignition-Engine On Warning Chime Is Inoperative

  1. Normal Operation and Fault Conditions 

    Ignition-Engine On Warning Chime. REFER to: Warning Chimes - System Operation and Component Description

    Possible Sources 

    • Interior lighting concern
    • PRNDM/PRND indication concern
    • BCM
    • PCM
    • SOBDMC (HEV)
    • GWM
    • IPC

  2. CA1 CHECK THE SEATBELT WARNING CHIME OPERATION

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Ignition ON.

    • Unbuckle the driver seatbelt.

    • Monitor the seatbelt warning chime when the ignition is transitioned from OFF to RUN for 6 seconds.

    Does the seatbelt warning chime operate for approximately 6 seconds? 

    Yes  GO to  CA2
    No  GO to Pinpoint Test CI 

  3. CA2 CHECK THE DOOR AJAR INDICATION

    • Open the driver door.

    • Observe the door ajar warning RTT indicator.

    Does the door ajar warning RTT indicator turn on with the driver door ajar? 

    Yes  GO to  CA3
    No  GO to Pinpoint Test N 

  4. CA3 CHECK THE PRNDM/PRND OPERATION

    • Shift the transmission range selector through the ranges while observing the PRNDM/PRND indication.

    Does the PRNDM/PRND indication match the selected transmission range? 

    Yes  GO to  CA4
    No  GO to Pinpoint Test AC 

  5. CA4 PERFORM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to the IPCDTC Chart.
    No  GO to  CA5

  6. CA5 PERFORM THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to the Master DTC Chart.
    No  GO to  CA6

  7. CA6 PERFORM THE PCM (POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE) KOEO (KEY ON, ENGINE OFF) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the PCMKOEO self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to the Master DTC Chart.
    No  For gas engine, GO to  CA8For HEV, GO to  CA7

  8. CA7 PERFORM THE SOBDMC (SECONDARY ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC CONTROL MODULE C) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the SOBDMC self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to: Electric Powertrain Control
    No  GO to  CA8

  9. CA8 CHECK THE GWM (GATEWAY MODULE A) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, check the GWM Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to: Controller Area Network (CAN) Module Communications Network
    No  DIAGNOSE an ignition concern. REFER to: Steering Wheel and Column Electrical Components
