Pinpoint Test BW: The Electric Vehicle (EV) Engine Off Reminder Warning Chime Is Inoperative

  1. Normal Operation and Fault Conditions 

    See Electric Vehicle (EV) Engine Off Reminder. REFER to: Warning Chimes - System Operation and Component Description

    Possible Sources 

    • Communication concern
    • Door ajar indication concern
    • BCM concern
    • PCM concern
    • GWM
    • IPC

  2. BW1 CHECK THE SEATBELT WARNING CHIME OPERATION

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Ignition ON.

    • Unbuckle the driver seatbelt.

    • Monitor the seatbelt warning chime when the ignition is transitioned from OFF to RUN for 6 seconds.

    Does the seatbelt warning chime operate for approximately 6 seconds? 

    Yes  GO to  BW2
    No  GO to Pinpoint Test CI 
  3. BW2 CHECK THE DOOR AJAR INDICATION

    • Open the driver door.

    • Observe the door ajar warning indicator or door ajar RTT warning indicator.

    Does the door ajar warning indicator or RTT warning indicator turn on with the driver door ajar? 

    Yes  GO to  BW3
    No  GO to Pinpoint Test N 
  4. BW3 PERFORM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to the IPCDTC Chart.
    No  GO to  BW4
  5. BW4 CHECK THE GWM (GATEWAY MODULE A) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, check the GWM Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to: Controller Area Network (CAN) Module Communications Network
    No  DIAGNOSE all SOBDMC Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). REFER to: Electric Powertrain Control
