Transmission Fluid Cooler - Air to Oil: Removal

NOTE: Make sure that all openings are sealed with clean blanking caps.
NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluids.
NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Remove the air cleaner. Refer to: Air Cleaner .
  2. Release the retainers and remove the radiator sight shield.

  3. Remove the active grille shutter. Refer to: Active Grille Shutter .
  4. Remove the retainers and remove the air cleaner inlet tube.

  5. Remove the bolt and remove the transmission fluid cooler tube bracket.

    Torque

    : 44 lb.in (5 Nm)

  6. NOTE: Make sure that all openings are sealed.
    NOTE: Use suitable paper to absorb any escaping fluid.

    Remove the bolts and position aside the transmission fluid cooler tubes.

  7. NOTE: Make sure that no component falls off during removal.

    Remove the transmission fluid cooler tube band seal.

  8. Remove the retainers and remove the underbody shield.

  9. Remove the screws, the pin-type retainers and the radiator deflector.

    Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover

  10. On both sides. Remove the bolts and remove the front support bar.

    Torque

    : 1: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

    2: 124 lb.in (14 Nm)

  11. Remove the bolt and wiring harness retainers.

    Torque

    : 106 lb.in (12 Nm)

  12. On both sides. Remove the bolts.

    Torque

    : 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

  13. NOTE: Make sure that no strain is placed on the refrigerant lines.

    On both sides. Lower the front cross member. Use the General Equipment: Transmission Jack

    Loosely install the cable ties at both sides of the A/C condenser. Use the General Equipment: Cable Ties

  15. NOTE: Make sure that a new component is installed.

    Remove the transmission fluid cooler.

  17. Separate the transmission fluid cooler and the bracket.
