Selector Lever Cable Adjustment - 8-Speed Automatic Transmission - 8F35/8F40

Adjustment 

1. Position the selector lever in D.

2. Remove the air cleaner. Refer to: Air Cleaner - 2.0L Duratec-HE (110kW/150PS) - MI4.
3. Disconnect the selector lever cable from the manual control lever.

4. Position the manual lever in D.
   1. Rotate the manual control lever counterclockwise until it stops.
   2. Rotate the manual control lever clockwise 3 detents to D.

5. Release the selector lever cable adjuster lock.
   1. Slide the adjuster lock tab toward the end on the adjuster.
   2. While holding the adjuster lock tab, slide the lock out to unlock the selector lever cable adjuster.

6. Connect the selector lever cable to the manual control lever.

7. Lock the selector lever cable adjuster.

8. Install the air cleaner. Refer to: Air Cleaner - 2.0L Duratec-HE (110kW/150PS) - MI4.
9. Verify the engine starts only in P and N and the reverse lamps illuminate only in R.
