Auto-Start-Stop Accumulator: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Remove the transmission support insulator. Refer to: Transmission Support Insulator .
  2. Detach the wiring harness retainers. Remove the nut and the bracket, position aside the wiring harness.

    Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

  3. Disconnect the electrical connector, detach the wiring harness retainer and position aside the wiring harness.

  4. Remove the bolt and position aside the bracket.

    Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

  5. Detach the transmission vent tube.

    • Disconnect the selector lever cable from the transmission.

    • Remove the selector lever cable bracket bolts and position aside the selector lever cable.

      Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

  6. NOTE: To prevent O-ring damage, fully seat the start/stop accumulator before the bolt installation.

    Remove the bolts, the studbolt and the Auto-Start-Stop Accumulator.

    Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

  7. NOTE: Make sure that new components are installed.

    Remove and discard the start/stop accumulator O-rings.

  8. NOTE: Do not disassemble, the start/stop accumulator is under pressure.

    Using the special tool, discharge the start/stop accumulator into a suitable container. Use Special Service Tool: 307-771 Accumulator Release Pin.
