Pinpoint Test W: DTC P076F

  1. Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

The PCM monitors clutch applications for all gears. It sets a DTC if it detects ratio errors but is unable to detect which clutch caused the issue. The transmission logic disables the gear in question. If multiple incorrect gear ratio diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) are set, look for common a clutch involved in the operation of those gear applications. If no common clutch errors are found look for line pressure or pump pressure issues.

    DTC Fault Trigger Conditions

    DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition
PCM P076F:00 Gear 7 Incorrect Ratio: No Sub Type Information The PCM detected ratio errors 4 times either in or while shifting to seventh gear. The ratio error did not last long enough for the PCM to isolate the fault to a specific clutch. The logic disabled seventh gear for the remainder of the current key cycle the fault occurred in. The DTC self clears after 40 warm up cycles have been completed without detecting the fault again.

    Possible Sources

    • Transmission fluid contamination
    • B solenoid or B clutch stuck on or damaged
    • C solenoid or C clutch stuck off or slipping
    • E solenoid or E clutch slipping or damaged

  2. W1 CHECK FOR DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)

    • Ignition ON.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear the DTC for the PCM.

    • Road test the vehicle.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the PCM self-test.

Is DTC P076F present in the PCM?

Yes  REFER to: B Clutch . REFER to: C Clutch . REFER to: E Clutch .
No  The fault is not present at this time and may be intermittent.
