Thermostatic Expansion Valve: Removal
NOTE:
Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
All vehicles
- Recover the refrigerant. Refer to: Air Conditioning (A/C) System Recovery, Evacuation and Charging .
- Remove the cowl panel. Refer to: Cowl Panel .
- Position the degas bottle aside.
Vehicles with rear climate control
- With the vehicle in N, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
- Remove the retainers and the engine undershield.
- Remove the thermostatic expansion valve manifold and tube assembly bracket nut.
Torque: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)

NOTE: Make sure that all openings are sealed.
Remove the rear evaporator inlet, outlet line nuts and disconnect the fittings.
Torque: 71 lb.in (8 Nm)
All vehicles

NOTE: Make sure that all openings are sealed.
Remove the thermostatic expansion valve manifold and tube assembly nut, disconnect the fitting.
Torque: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)
- Remove the thermostatic expansion valve manifold and tube assembly bracket bolt and nut.
Torque: 1: 97 lb.in (11 Nm) 2: 27 lb.in (3 Nm)
- Remove thermostatic expansion valve bolts, the thermostatic expansion valve and discard the gasket seals.
Torque: 35 lb.in (4 Nm)
