Oil Pump: Removal

Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
- Remove the timing cover. Refer to: Timing Cover .
- Remove the upper dash panel reinforcement.
- Position aside the hoses and the wiring. Remove the upper dash panel reinforcement.
- Install the special tool to support the engine.
Install Special Service Tool: 303-F072 Support Bar, Engine., 303-290-05A Adapter for 303-290A., 303-290B-19 Adapter for 303-290B.
- Using a floor jack and a wooden block, support the subframe.
Remove the General Equipment: Trolley Jack
Remove the General Equipment: Wooden Block
- Disconnect the A/C electrical connector.
- Remove the nut and the stud.
Torque
: 1: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)
2: 71 lb.in (8 Nm)
- Remove the bolts and position aside the A/C compressor.
Install the General Equipment: Cable Ties
Torque
: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

NOTE: The oil drain plug with O-ring seal is to be reused unless damaged.NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.
Drain the engine oil.
Use the General Equipment: Oil Drain Equipment
Torque
: 21 lb.ft (28 Nm)
- Remove and discard the engine oil filter.
Use the General Equipment: Oil Drain Equipment
- Remove the engine bolt.
Torque
: 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)
- Remove the transmission bolts.
Torque
: 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)
- Remove the bolts and the oil pan.
- Remove the bolts and the oil pickup tube.
Torque
: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)
- Remove and discard the oil pickup tube O-ring.

- Position out the spring.
- Remove the bolts and the oil pump chain tensioner.
Torque
: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)
- Remove the bolt and the oil pump drive gear.
Torque
: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)
- Remove the bolts and the oil pump.
