Oil Pan: Removal

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
  2. Remove the cowl panel. Refer to: Cowl Panel .
  3. Remove the battery tray. Refer to: Battery Tray - 2.5L Duratec (125kW/170PS) .
  4. If equipped. Remove the nuts, bolt and stud. Position aside the transmission fluid cooler.

  5. Remove the oil level indicator.

  6. Disconnect the HO2S electrical connector and catalyst monitor sensor electrical connector. Disconnect the wire retainers.

  7. Remove the lower splash shield.

  8. Using the special tool, remove the exhaust gas oxygen sensor.

    Use Special Service Tool: 303-476 (T94P-9472-A) Socket, Exhaust Gas Oxygen Sensor.

  9. Remove the bolts and position aside the exhaust manifold heat shield.

  10. Loosen the bolts. Loosen: 10 turn(s)

  11. Loosen the bolts. Loosen: 10 turn(s)

  12. Remove the A/C compressor belt. Refer to: Air Conditioning (A/C) Compressor Belt .
  13. Disconnect the A/C compressor electrical connector.

  14. Remove the A/C compressor nut and stud.

  15. Remove the bolts and position aside the A/C compressor.

  16. Remove the bolts and position aside the bracket.

    Torque

    : 68 lb.ft (92 Nm)

  17. Remove the bolt.

  19. Loosen the bolts. Loosen: 10 turn(s)

  20. Separate the engine from the transmission.

  21. NOTE: The oil drain plug with O-ring seal is to be reused unless damaged.
    NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.

    Drain engine oil and remove the drain plug. Use the General Equipment: Oil Drain Equipment

  22. Remove and discard the engine oil filter. Use the General Equipment: Oil Drain Equipment

  23. Remove the engine front cover bolts.

  24. Remove the bolts and the oil pan.
