Main Control Cover: Removal

- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
- Remove the air cleaner. Refer to: Air Cleaner .
- If equipped.
- Remove the retainers and the shield reinforcement.
- Remove the retainers and the underbody shield.
- Remove the transmission fluid drain plug and allow the transmission fluid to drain.
- Install the transmission fluid drain plug when finished.
Torque: 159 lb.in (18 Nm)
- Install the transmission fluid drain plug when finished.

NOTE: Make sure that the component terminals are not bent or damaged.
Remove the wiring harness retainers and disconnect the transmission and TSS connectors.
- Remove the wiring harness retainers, nuts and remove the wiring harness bracket.
- Remove the wiring harness retainer bracket nut and position aside the wiring harness.
- Remove the transmission coolant hose bracket nut and position aside the coolant hose.
- Remove the transmission main control cover studs.
- Remove the transmission main control cover studs.
- Remove the transmission main control cover studs.

NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.
Remove the bolts and remove the transmission main control cover.
