Catalytic Converter: Removal

Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
- Remove the cowl panel. Refer to: Cowl Panel .
- Disconnect the catalyst monitor sensor electrical connector.
- Disconnect the HO2S electrical connector.
- Remove the bolts and the catalytic converter heat shield.
Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

NOTE: Make sure that new nuts are installed.
Remove and discard the catalytic converter nuts.
Torque:Stage 1: Tighten: 41 lb.ft (55 Nm)
Stage 2: Retighten: 41 lb.ft (55 Nm)
- Remove the front subframe. Refer to: Front Subframe - Remove for Access .

- Remove and discard the nuts.
- Position aside the muffler and tailpipe and discard the gasket.
- Remove the nut and the catalytic converter.
Torque: 35 lb.ft (47 Nm)

NOTE: Make sure that a new component is installed.
Remove and discard the exhaust manifold gasket.

NOTE: Make sure that new studs are installed.
Remove and discard the exhaust manifold studs.
Torque: 150 lb.in (17 Nm)
