Cooling Fan Motor and Shroud: Removal

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
  2. Remove the air cleaner. Refer to: Air Cleaner .
  3. Release the retainers and remove the radiator sight shield.

  4. Remove the front bumper cover. Refer to: Front Bumper Cover .
  5. Remove the retainers and remove the air cleaner inlet tube.

  6. Remove the retainers and remove the air cleaner inlet tube.

  7. Remove the bolt and remove the transmission fluid cooler tube bracket.

    Torque: 44 lb.in (5 Nm)

  8. Disconnect the cooling fan motor electrical connector and detach the wiring retainer.

  9. Remove the bolts and the engine underbody shield.

  10. Remove the bolts, screws and retainers and the radiator undershield.

  11. Remove the clips and pin type retainer and the radiator upper air deflector.

  12. Remove the bolt and the radiator RH side air deflector.

  13. Remove the bolt and the radiator LH side air deflector.

  14. On both sides. Remove the bolts and remove the front side member.

    Torque: 1: 35 lb.ft (48 Nm) 2: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

  15. If equipped. Remove the bolt and the wiring harness retainers.

    Torque: 106 lb.in (12 Nm)

  16. On both sides. Remove the bolts.

    Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

  17. NOTE: Make sure that no strain is placed on the refrigerant lines.

    Remove the front cross member.

  18. NOTE: Make sure that no strain is placed on the refrigerant lines.
    NOTE: Make sure that a new component is installed.

    Remove the lower foam strip.

  19. Detach the retainers and position aside the hoses.

  20. NOTE: Make sure that no strain is placed on the refrigerant lines.

    Using a transmission jack, lower the radiator assembly.

    Use the General Equipment: Transmission Jack

  21. NOTE: Make sure that a new component is installed.

    Remove the upper foam strip.

    Detach the transmission fluid cooler.
