- To install, reverse the removal procedure.

NOTE: The heat shield should be free of cracks after removal/installation as this would reduce the function of the shield and could cause long term issues. Especially the area of the hanger cut-out.NOTE: A minimum clearance of 25 mm (.98 in.) around the exhaust system needs to be maintained. An insufficient clearance could cause a squeak and rattle issue. Please consider the exhaust extension in X-direction during vehicle-use.NOTE: Any contact of the heat shield to the tank or other components could cause thermal and squeak and rattle issues.NOTE: A minimum clearance of 10 mm (.39 in.) around the brake lines, hand brake cable and fuel lines needs to be maintained. Any contact of the heat shield to these components could cause long term issues.NOTE: This step requires the aid of another technician.NOTE: When installing the heat shield, position and secure the rear of the shield onto the rearmost underbody studs first.
