Cooler Bypass Valve: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.

NOTE: Only tighten the bolt finger tight at this stage.

Install the bracket to the transmission fluid thermal bypass valve.

1. NOTE: Only tighten the nut finger tight at this stage.
  
  Connect the transmission fluid cooler inlet tube to he transmission fluid thermal bypass valve and install the nut.
2. Lubricate the transmission fluid cooler inlet tube seal and backing ring with clean transmission fluid.
  Material: Motorcraft® MERCON® LV Automatic Transmission Fluid / XT-10-QLVC (WSS-M2C938-A) (MERCON® LV,)

1. Position the transmission mounted transmission fluid cooler inlet tube and install the bolt.
  Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)
2. Install the transmission fluid thermal bypass valve-bracket assembly on the transmission.
  Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)
3. Tighten the transmission mounted transmission fluid cooler inlet tube nut.
  Torque: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)
4. Tighten the transmission fluid thermal bypass valve on transmission bolt.
  Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

1. Lubricate the transmission fluid cooler outlet tube seal and backing ring with clean transmission fluid.
  Material: Motorcraft® MERCON® LV Automatic Transmission Fluid / XT-10-QLVC (WSS-M2C938-A) (MERCON® LV,)
2. Install the transmission mounted transmission fluid cooler outlet tube and a new transmission mounted transmission fluid cooler outlet tube bolt.
  Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)
3. Tighten the transmission mounted transmission fluid cooler outlet tube nut.
  Torque: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

1. Position the transmission mounted transmission fluid cooler outlet tube and tighten the nut.
  Torque: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)
2. Position the transmission mounted transmission fluid cooler inlet tube and tighten the nut.
  Torque: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

- Install air cleaner outlet pipe and tighten the clamp.
- Connect the quick release couplings to the air cleaner outlet pipe. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling .

Install the battery tray. Refer to: Battery Tray - 2.5L Duratec (125kW/170PS) .
Check the transmission fluid level. Refer to: TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL CHECK .
