Transmission Cooling - Overview

The transmission cooling system consists of a cooler bypass valve, an oil-to-coolant heat exchanger and four cooler tubes.
When the transmission fluid is below operating temperature, the cooler bypass valve will direct transmission fluid from the transmission back to the transmission without going through the heat exchanger.
When the transmission fluid is at or above operating temperature, the cooler bypass valve directs fluid from the transmission through the cooler and back to the transmission.
