Fuel Injectors: Removal

NOTE:
Fuel injection equipment is manufactured to very precise tolerances and fine clearances. To prevent fuel system damage, it is essential that absolute cleanliness is observed when working with these components. Always install fuel system caps on any open orifices or tubes.
NOTE:
The PCM is programmed with an IQA code for each fuel injector. Note the fuel injector cylinder location for installation.
- Remove the fuel injector supply tubes for the fuel injectors that are being removed. Refer to: Fuel Injector Supply Tube .

NOTE: The fuel injector hold-down clamp bolts are torque-to-yield and cannot be reused.
- Remove and discard the fuel injector bolts.
- Remove the fuel injector hold-downs.

Install the Injector Removal Tool.

NOTE: If needed for clearance, the shorter 310-230-01 Adapter, Fuel Injector Remover push bolt can be used.
Install the Injector Removal Tool to the fuel injector and fully hand-tighten the Injector Removal Tool mounting bolt.

Use Special Service Tool: 310-230 Remover, Fuel Injector.
- Install the push bolt and tighten to remove the fuel injector.
- Remove the Injector Removal Tool mounting bolt and the lower portion of the Injector Removal Tool.

NOTE: If any of the fuel injector sealing washers remained in the fuel injector cylinder head bore, be sure to remove and discard the fuel injector sealing washers.
Remove and discard the O-rings and fuel injector sealing washers.

NOTE: Use the notch in the valve cover to aid in removing the fuel injector-to-valve cover seal.
Remove and discard the fuel injector-to-valve cover seals.
