Fuel Pump and Sender Unit: Removal

  1. Remove the Fuel Tank. Refer to: Fuel Tank - Vehicles With: Midship Fuel Tank .
  2. NOTE: To avoid introducing contamination into the fuel tank use compressed air to clean the fuel pump and sender unit flange surfaces and the immediate surrounding area of any dirt or foreign material.
    NOTE: Typical application shown.

    If equipped, remove the nuts and the cover.

    Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

  3. NOTE: Typical application shown.

    Disconnect the quick release coupling. Position the hose aside. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling .

  4. NOTE: Note the position of the fuel pump and sender unit for installation.

    Using the special tool remove the lock ring and the fuel pump and sender unit. Use Special Service Tool: 310-123 Locking Ring, Fuel Tank.

  5. Remove and discard the O-ring.
