Pickup Bed: Removal

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2018 Ford F-550 Super Duty, 2018 Ford F-450 Super Duty, 2018 Ford F-350 Super Duty, and 2018 Ford F-250 Super Duty. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Pickup bed bolts are a one-use bolt. They must be replaced when removed or loosened.
NOTE: Diesel 8.0 foot pickup bed shown, all others similar.
NOTE: Spare tire removed for clarity.
  1. Remove the tailgate.
  2. If equipped, remove the bed liner.
  3. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
  4. Remove the rear bumper. Refer to: Rear Bumper .
  5. Open the fuel fill door, remove the rubber boot and fasteners and position the filler pipe(s) aside.

  6. Disconnect the electrical connectors and retainers and position the wiring harness aside.

  7. Disconnect the electrical connectors and retainers and position the wiring harness aside.

  8. NOTE: Bed bolt removal requires the use of an external Torx Plus ® 24EP or 24EPL socket.

    Remove and discard the pickup bed fasteners.

  9. Carefully remove the pickup bed.
