Pickup Bed: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2018 Ford F-550 Super Duty, 2018 Ford F-450 Super Duty, 2018 Ford F-350 Super Duty, and 2018 Ford F-250 Super Duty. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Pickup bed bolts are a one-use bolt. They must be replaced when removed or loosened.
NOTE: Diesel 8.0 foot pickup bed shown, all others similar.
NOTE: Spare tire removed for clarity.
  1. Carefully install and properly position the pickup bed.

  2. NOTE: Bed bolt installation requires the use of an external Torx Plus ® 24EP or 24EPL socket.

    Install new fasteners.

    Torque: 129 lb.ft (175 Nm)

  3. Reposition the wiring harness, install retainers and connect the electrical connectors.

  4. Reposition the wiring harness, install retainers and connect the electrical connectors.

  5. Reposition the filler pipe(s) and install the fasteners.

    1. Fuel filler pipe

      Torque: 44 lb.in (5.0 Nm)

    2. Urea filler pipe.

      Torque: 22 lb.in (2.5 Nm)

  6. Install the rear bumper. Refer to: Rear Bumper .
  7. If equipped, install the pickup bed liner.
  8. Install the tailgate.
  9. Check the vehicle exterior lighting for proper operation.
