Steering Linkage Damper - F-250 F-350 F-450 F-550, 4WD: Removal

NOTE: Suspension fasteners are critical parts that affect the performance of vital components and systems. Failure of these fasteners may result in major service expense. Use the same or equivalent parts if replacement is necessary. Do not use a replacement part of lesser quality or substitute design. Tighten fasteners as specified.
NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Position the vehicle on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
  2. NOTE: Use the hex-holding feature to prevent the stud from turning while removing the nut.

    Remove the steering linkage damper-to-sector shaft arm drag link nut.

    Torque: 66 lb.ft (90 Nm)

  3. Separate the steering linkage damper from the sector shaft arm drag link.

    Use Special Service Tool: 211-003 (T64P-3590-F) Remover, Steering Arm.

  4. Remove the steering linkage damper-to-frame bracket bolt and remove the steering linkage damper.

    Torque: 59 lb.ft (80 Nm)
