Sector Shaft Arm: Removal

NOTE: RWD sector shaft arm shown in illustration. 4WD Similar.
  1. Hold the steering wheel in the straight-ahead position.

    Use the General Equipment: Steering Wheel Holder

  2. Position the vehicle on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
    1. Remove and discard the sector shaft arm drag link cotter pin.
    2. Remove and discard the sector shaft arm drag link nut retainer.

  3. Remove and discard the sector shaft arm drag link nut.

    Torque: 129 lb.ft (175 Nm)

  4. Separate the sector shaft arm drag link from the sector shaft arm.

    Use Special Service Tool: 211-003 (T64P-3590-F) Remover, Steering Arm.

  5. Remove and discard the sector shaft arm nut.

    Torque: 350 lb.ft (475 Nm)

  6. Remove the sector shaft arm.

    Use the General Equipment: Two Leg Puller
