Pinpoint Tests OA: The Hill Descent Control System Is Inoperative, Cannot Be Disabled Or Enabled

CAUTION: Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may cause damage to the connector.
  1. OA1: CHECK THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTCS) 
    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the IPC  self-test.

    Are there any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) present? 

    Yes No
    Refer to INSTRUMENTATION, MESSAGE CENTER AND WARNING CHIMES Go to  OA2
  2. OA2: CHECK THE PCM (POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) 
    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the PCM self-test.

    Are there any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) present? 

    Yes No
    For 2.7L Engines, Refer to ELECTRONIC ENGINE CONTROLS - 2.7L
    Refer to ELECTRONIC ENGINE CONTROLS - 3.0L
    Refer to ELECTRONIC ENGINE CONTROLS - 3.3L
    Refer to ELECTRONIC ENGINE CONTROLS - 3.5L EcoBoost (BM)
    Refer to ELECTRONIC ENGINE CONTROLS - 3.5L V6 PowerBoost (CN)
    Refer to ELECTRONIC ENGINE CONTROLS - 5.0L    		 Go to  OA3.
  3. OA3: CHECK THE RCM (RESTRAINTS CONTROL MODULE) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) 
    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the RCM self-test. 

    Are there any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) present? 

    Yes No
    REFER to AIRBAG SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS) . Go to  OA4.
  4. OA4: CHECK THE ABS (ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM) MODULE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) 
    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the ABS  module self-test.

    Are there any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) present? 

    Yes No
    Refer to the appropriate ABS  module DTC  chart in this article. The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused bya loose or corroded connector. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pinissues.
