Occupant Classification System (OCS) Sensor - Vehicles Without: Multi-Contour Seats: Removal

WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure in this article, refer to health and safety warnings in General Information. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

- If equipped with a power seat, raise the seat to its highest point of travel.
- Remove the front passenger seat. Refer to: Front Seat .

- If equipped. Remove the retainer and the recline adjusting handle.
- If equipped. Remove the retainer and the lumbar adjusting handle.
- Remove the front seat cushion side shield screws.

- Firmly grasp the front seat cushion side shield, lift up and out, separating the front seat cushion side shield from the recliner bracket.
- If equipped. From underneath, squeeze the retainers together and pull out on the front seat side shield.
- Slide the front seat cushion side shield forward and for a manual front seat track, remove the front seat cushion side shield.
- If equipped. Disconnect the front seat control switch electrical connector and remove the front seat cushion side shield.
- Detach the front seat electrical connector retainers and position the wiring harnesses aside.
- Detach the front seat backrest cover straps and position the front seat backrest cover aside.
- Vehicles without Max Recline front seat. Detach the front seat cushion cover J-clips and position the front seat cushion cover aside.
- Vehicles with Max Recline front seat. Detach the front seat cushion cover J-clips.

- Disconnect the OCS sensor.
- If equipped with heated seat. Disconnect the front seat cushion heater mat electrical connector and wiring harness retainer.

NOTE: Using excessive force when bending the bracket tab can damage the OCSM (occupant classification system module) housing.NOTE: Follow the unique instructions or graphic for this step in the installation.
Bend the bracket tab and remove the OCSM from the bracket. Use the General Equipment: Flat Headed Screw Driver

- Detach the front seat cushion cover front J-clip.
- On both sides. Detach the front seat cushion cover corner J-clips.
- On both sides. Detach the front seat cushion cover side J-clip.
- Release the front seat cushion cover strap from around the front seatbelt buckle.

NOTE: When equipped with an OCS service kit, the OCS is adhered to the bottom of the front seat cushion foam. This requires the front seat cushion cover, foam and OCS to be positioned aside as an assembly.
Lift the front seat cushion foam. If the front seat cushion foam and OCS are adhered together, then the OCS is a service kit. If nothing is adhered together, then the OCS is OE (original equipment).

NOTE: Note the wiring harness routing for proper installation.
If equipped with an OE OCS, route the front seat cushion heater mat wiring harness pigtail (if equipped) out from between the front seat cushion and backrest and remove the front seat cushion cover and foam as an assembly.

NOTE: OE OCS shown, service kit similar.
- Remove the OCS pin-type retainers.
- Lift the OCS sensor from the front seat track.
- If equipped with an OCS service kit. Route the front seat cushion heater mat wiring harness pigtail (if equipped) out from between the front seat cushion and front seat backrest and start OCS removal.

NOTE: Note the location of the OCS hose and heater mat pigtail as it passes through the front seat cushion support for proper installation.
If equipped with an OE or service kit OCS. Route out the OCS hose and sensor from between the front seat cushion support wires and remove the OCS.

NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.
Invert the rear portion of the front seat backrest cover from the front seat foam.

NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.
Passenger seat without max recline. Remove the front seat cushion cover.
- Invert the front seat cushion cover.

NOTE: Use care when separating the front seat cushion cover from the hook-and-loop strips, or the hook-and-loop strips can be torn from the front seat cushion foam.
Release the hook-and-loop strips.

NOTE: Use care when separating the front seat cushion cover from the hook-and-arrows, or the hooks can be torn from the front seat cushion foam.
Release the hook-and-arrows.

NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.
Passenger seat with max recline. Remove the front seat cushion cover.
- Invert the front seat cushion cover.

NOTE: Use care when separating the front seat cushion cover from the hook-and-arrows, or the hooks can be torn from the front seat cushion foam.
Release the hook-and-arrows.

NOTE: Use care when separating the front seat cushion cover from the hook-and-loop strips, or the hook-and-loop strips can be torn from the front seat cushion foam.
Release the hook-and-loop strips.
