Occupant Classification System (OCS) Sensor - Vehicles With: Multi-Contour Seats: Removal

WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure in this article, refer to health and safety warnings in General Information. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

- Raise the seat to its highest point of travel.
- Remove the front passenger seat. Refer to: Front Seat .
- Remove the side shield screws.

- Lift the rear of the front seat side shield and pull outward.
- Push the front seat side shield forward.
- Disconnect the front seat electrical connector and remove the side shield.
- Separate the SCMH from the front seat cushion.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Detach the wiring harness retainer.
- Detach the SCMH.
- Compress/squeeze the hose end fitting.
- Disconnect the hose.
- Detach the front seat electrical connector retainers and position the front seat wiring harnesses aside.
- Detach the front seat backrest cover straps and position the front seat backrest cover aside.
- Vehicles without Max Recline front seat. Detach the front seat cushion cover J-clips and position the front seat cushion cover aside.
- Vehicles with Max Recline front seat. Detach the front seat cushion cover J-clips.
- Disconnect the OCSM electrical connector.

NOTE: Using excessive force when bending the bracket tab can damage the OCSM (occupant classification system module) housing.NOTE: Follow the unique instructions or graphic for this step in the installation.
Bend the bracket tab and remove the OCSM from the bracket. Use the General Equipment: Flat Headed Screw Driver
- Disconnect the front seat cushion heater mat electrical connector and detach the wiring harness retainer.

- Detach the front seat cushion cover J-clip.
- On both sides. Detach the front seat cushion cover corner J-clips.
- Detach the front seat cushion cover side J-clip.
- Release the front seat cushion cover strap from around the front seatbelt buckle.

NOTE: When equipped with an OCS (occupant classification system) service kit, the OCS (occupant classification system) is adhered to the bottom of the front seat cushion foam. This requires the front seat cushion cover, front seat foam, front seat cushion adjuster and OCS (occupant classification system) to be positioned aside as an assembly.
Lift the front seat cushion foam. If the front seat cushion foam, front seat cushion adjuster and OCS are adhered together, then the OCS is a service kit. If nothing is adhered together, then the OCS is OE (original equipment).
Seats with an OE (original equipment) OCS (occupant classification system)

NOTE: Note the wiring harness routing for proper installation.
Remove the front seat cushion cover and foam as an assembly while routing out the front seat cushion heater mat wiring pigtail out from between the front seat track and the front seat backrest.
- Detach the pin-type retainers and lift the front seat cushion adjuster.
- Detach the pin-type retainers and lift the OCS bladder.

NOTE: Note the location of the OCS and front seat cushion adjuster hoses as they pass through the front seat cushion support for proper installation.
Remove the OCS and front seat cushion adjuster.
- Route out the OCS hose and sensor, and the front seat cushion adjuster hoses and SCMH from between the front seat cushion support wires and remove them.
Seats with a service kit OCS (occupant classification system)

- Remove the front seat cushion adjuster pin-type retainers.
- Lift the front of the front seat cushion adjuster assembly to access the OCS pin-type retainers.

- Remove the OCS pin-type retainers.
- Lift the OCS up off the front seat cushion and start removal.

Route out the front seat cushion heater mat wiring pigtail from between the front seat cushion and front seat backrest.

Remove the OCS service kit.
- Route out the OCS hose and sensor, and the front seat cushion adjuster hoses and SCMH from between the front seat cushion support wires.
All seats

NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.
Invert the rear portion of the front seat cushion cover from the front seat foam.

NOTE: With multi-contour seat shown, with multi-contour and max recline similar.NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.
Remove the front seat cushion cover.
- Invert the front seat cushion cover.

NOTE: Use care when separating the front seat cushion cover from the hook-and-loop strips, or the hook-and-loop strips can be torn from the front seat cushion foam.
Release the outer hook-and-loop strips.

NOTE: Use care when separating the front seat cushion cover from the hook-and-arrows, or the hooks can be torn from the front seat cushion foam.
Release the hook-and-arrows.

NOTE: Use care when separating the front seat cushion cover from the hook-and-loop strips, or the hook-and-loop strips can be torn from the front seat cushion foam.
Release the inner hook-and-loop strips.
