Driver Knee Airbag: Removal

The following procedure prescribes critical repair steps required for correct restraint system operation during a crash. Follow all notes and steps carefully. Failure to follow step instructions may result in incorrect operation of the restraint system and increases the risk of serious personal injury or death in a crash.

- Depower the SRS. Refer to: Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering .
- Remove the bolts and position the driver knee airbag out from the instrument panel.
Torque: 93 lb.in (10.5 Nm)
- Remove the driver knee airbag.
- Raise the locking tabs of the driver knee airbag electrical connector.
- Disconnect the driver knee airbag electrical connector.
- Disconnect the interior lamp electrical connector and detach the pin-type retainer.

NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.
Remove the interior lamp from the bracket.
- Push in and release the retainers.
- Rotate the interior lamp assembly out of the bracket.

Remove the nut and the driver knee airbag bracket.
