Roof Opening Panel Shield: Removal

- Remove the roof opening panel fixed glass. Refer to: Roof Opening Panel Fixed Glass .

NOTE: Make sure the tension release pin is removed after the roof opening panel shield is installed or damage to the roof opening panel components may occur.
Release the tension on the roof opening panel shield.
- Rotate the shield clockwise until the holes align.

NOTE: A 1 mm (0.039 in) hex wrench can be used as a retaining pin.
Insert a 1 mm (0.039 in) retaining pin, or equivalent, all the way through the shaft.
- Detach the shield cross bar from the shield drive cable arms on both sides.
- Insert a 2 mm (0.039 in) hex wrench into the gap on the cable arm and apply pressure against the roof opening shield crossbar.
- Insert a flat bladed screwdriver between the shield drive cable and the roof opening shield crossbar. Using a twisting motion, detach the roof opening shield crossbar.
- Drill the rivet and detach the anti-static spring from the roof opening panel shield crossbar.

- Roll the roof opening panel tension bar upward to detach the bar from the frame and remove the roof opening panel tension bar.
- Remove the roof opening panel shield.
- Rotate the roof opening panel shield until the end of the shaft is aligned with the bracket opening.
- Lift the roof opening panel shield off of the brackets.
