Fuel Filler Door Assembly: Removal

NOTE: The fuel filler door assembly is damaged during the removal process and requires a new fuel filler door assembly to be installed.

NOTE: Always cover open ports to protect from debris. It is important that no foreign material enter the system.

NOTE: 3.0L Diesel shown in illustration, others similar.

Remove the fuel filler door. Refer to: Fuel Filler Door .
Remove the caps.

Remove the cap.

Using a knife, slice through the heat stakes holding the fuel filler molding to the outer sheet metal panel.

Use the General Equipment: Knife

NOTE: Clearance is limited. When all five clips release, the housing can be rotated.

Release the clips while pulling the fuel filler door housing away from the vehicle. Remove the General Equipment: Flat Headed Screw Driver

Pull the fuel filler door assembly away from the vehicle and remove.
