WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2021 Ford F-150. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Refer to CHARGING SYSTEM for schematic and connector information.

    Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

    DTC Fault Trigger Conditions

    DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition
WACM U0184:00 Lost Communication With Radio: No Sub Type Information Set by the WACM when network messages are missing from the ACM for more than 5 seconds with the ignition in RUN.

    Possible Sources

    • ACM

  2. E1 VERIFY THE CUSTOMER'S CONCERN

NOTE: Every effort should be made to not trigger a key search by opening a door, stepping on the brake pedal. The triggering of a key search temporarily disables the WACM by design to avoid interference between the BCM and Key fob. This can cause confusion and the unnecessary replacement of perfectly good modules. While no key searches are being conducted while running the test results in no DTCs. This needs to be understood for the true DTCs setting and symptoms to be diagnosed.

    • Verify there is an observable symptom present.

    Is an observable symptom present?

    Yes  GO to  E2
No  The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
  3. E2 RECHECK FOR DTC (DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE) U0184:00

    • Ignition ON.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear all Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (CMDTCs).

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Ignition ON.

    • Wait at least 10 seconds.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, retrieve all Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (CMDTCs).

Is DTC U0184:00 set in the WACM?

    Yes  GO to  E3
No  The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
  4. E3 PERFORM THE ACM (AUDIO FRONT CONTROL MODULE) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the ACM self-test.

Are any non-network DTCS (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) present?

Yes  REFER to the appropriate DTC Chart .
    No  GO to  E4
  5. E4 CHECK FOR BATTERY VOLTAGE OUT-OF-RANGE DTCS (DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES)

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the self-test for the following modules:

      • ACM
      • WACM

Are any low or high voltage Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded in the ACM, or WACM?

Yes  For DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes)U3003:16 and U3003:17, GO to Pinpoint Test C
    No  GO to  E5
  6. E5 CHECK FOR CORRECT ACM (AUDIO FRONT CONTROL MODULE) OPERATION

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Disconnect and inspect the ACM connector.

    • Repair:

      • corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
      • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary

    • Reconnect all ACM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.

    • Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present?

Yes  CHECK OASIS for any applicable service articles: TSB, GSB, SSM or FSA. If a service article exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the service article instructions. If no service articles address this concern, INSTALL a new ACM. For vehicles without Sync 3 refer to: Audio Front Control Module (ACM) . For vehicles with Synch 3 refer to: REFER to: Audio Front Control Module (ACM) .
No  The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
