Pinpoint Test E: The Parking Aid Disable Switch Led (Light Emitting Diode) Is Inoperative Or Always On

  1. Refer to PARKING AID for schematic and connector information.

    Normal Operation and Fault Conditions 

    REFER to: Parking Aid - System Operation and Component Description .

    DTC Fault Trigger Conditions 

    DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition
    IPMA B1B54:11 Function LED - Park Aid: Circuit Short To Ground A continuous and on-demand DTC that sets when the parking aid disable status LED circuit is shorted to ground.
    IPMA B1B54:15 Function LED - Park Aid: Circuit Short To Battery Or Open A continuous and on-demand DTC that sets when the parking aid disable status LED circuit is open or shorted to battery voltage.

    Possible Sources 

    • Wiring, terminals or connectors
    • IPMA
    • Instrument panel center stack middle switch

  2. E1 RETRIEVE THE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE IPMA (IMAGE PROCESSING MODULE A) SELF-TEST

    • Ignition ON.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the IPMA self-test.

    Is DTC B1B54:11 present? 

    Yes  GO to  E4
    No  If the LED is inoperative, GO to  E3 If the LED is always on, GO to  E2
  3. E2 CHECK THE LED (LIGHT EMITTING DIODE) CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Disconnect IPMA C242A.

    • Ignition ON.

    Does the LED continue to illuminate? 

    Yes  REPAIR the circuit.
    No  GO to  E7
  4. E3 CHECK THE LED (LIGHT EMITTING DIODE) CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Disconnect IPMA C242A.

    • Disconnect Instrument panel center stack middle switch C2039.

    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? 

    Yes  GO to  E5
    No  REPAIR the circuit.
  5. E4 CHECK THE LED (LIGHT EMITTING DIODE) CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Disconnect IPMA C242A.

    • Disconnect Instrument panel center stack middle switch C2039.

    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead
      C2039-1

      Ground

    Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms? 

    Yes  GO to  E5
    No  REPAIR the circuit.
  6. E5 CHECK THE LED (LIGHT EMITTING DIODE) WITH THE IPMA (IMAGE PROCESSING MODULE A) BYPASSED

    • Connect Instrument panel center stack middle switch C2039.

    • Connect a fused jumper wire:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

      Battery positive

    Does the LED illuminate? 

    Yes  REMOVE the fused jumper wire. GO to  E7
    No  GO to  E6
  7. E6 CHECK THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CENTER STACK MIDDLE SWITCH GROUND

    • Disconnect Instrument panel center stack middle switch C2039.

    • Measure
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead
      C2039-3

      Ground

    Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? 

    Yes  INSTALL a new Instrument panel center stack middle switch. REFER to: Active Park Assist Switch .
    No  REPAIR the circuit.
  8. E7 CHECK FOR CORRECT IPMA (IMAGE PROCESSING MODULE A) OPERATION

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Disconnect and inspect all IPMA connectors.

    • Repair:

      • corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
      • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary

    • Reconnect the IPMA connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.

    • Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present? 

    Yes  CHECK OASIS for any applicable service articles: TSB, GSB, SSM or FSA. If a service article exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the service article instructions. If no service articles address this concern, INSTALL a new IPMA. REFER to: Image Processing Module A (IPMA) .
    No  The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
