Front Seatbelt Retractor and Pretensioner - Regular Cab: Removal

WARNING: The following procedure prescribes critical repair steps required for correct restraint system operation during a crash. Follow all notes and steps carefully. Failure to follow step instructions may result in incorrect operation of the restraint system and increases the risk of serious personal injury or death in a crash.
NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
NOTE: LH (left-hand) shown in illustration, RH (right-hand) similar.
  1. WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure in this article, refer to health and safety warnings in GENERAL INFORMATION . Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

    Refer to: Pyrotechnic Device Health and Safety Precautions .

  2. Depower the SRS. Refer to: Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering .
  3. Remove the lower B-pillar trim panel. Refer to: B-Pillar Trim Panel - Regular Cab .
  4. Remove the front seatbelt retractor and pretensioner D-ring cover.

  5. Remove the bolt and position the front seatbelt retractor and pretensioner D-ring aside.

    Torque

    : 30 lb.ft (40 Nm)

  6. Disconnect the front seatbelt retractor pretensioner, load limiter and anchor pretensioner electrical connectors and position aside.

    1. Raise the locking tabs of the electrical connector.
    2. Disconnect the electrical connector.

  7. Remove the front seatbelt anchor and pretensioner weather seal.

  8. Remove the front seatbelt retractor and pretensioner.

    1. Remove the front seatbelt anchor and pretensioner nut.

      Torque

      : 30 lb.ft (40 Nm)

    2. Remove the seatbelt retractor and pretensioner bolt.

      Torque

      : 30 lb.ft (40 Nm)
