Power Tailgate: Removal

- Remove the RH rear lamp assembly. Refer to: Rear Lamp Assembly .
- Open the tailgate to approximately 90 degrees from vertical.
- If equipped.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors from the main harness.
- Slide the harness through the box crossmember.

NOTE: Note the position of the component before removal.
Using a general equipment, gently pry the retainer spring clips and remove the power tailgate damper.
Use the General Equipment: Flat Headed Screw Driver

NOTE: This step requires the aid of another technician.
Partially open and support the tailgate.
- On both sides. Release the tailgate support cable safety clip.
- On both sides. Disconnect the tailgate support cable from the anchor post.
- Remove the retaining screw.

NOTE: This step requires the aid of another technician.
- Move the tailgate to approximately 45 deg. from vertical.
- Align the RH pivot to align with the opening in the hinge.
- Remove the tailgate.
- Lift the RH side of the tailgate up and out.
- Rotate the tailgate approximately 10 degree from close and remove it from the vehicle.
